Verses of the holy Qur’aan have been placed on the walls of the
famous US Harvard University. The verse from surah An-nisa is
posted on the entrance wall to the faculty of law at the campus.
A further explanation is given on the law schools website where
it states verse 135 from An-nisa (Ayah 4) as being revealed in Madinah and
addresses the importance of truthfulness in testimony. It also
mentions the chapter deals with the obligations and responsibilities
of women in Islamic society, touches on inheritance and family law along with slavery.
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah , even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. So follow not [personal] inclination, lest you not be just. And if you distort [your testimony] or refuse [to give it], then indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.
